The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, in conjunction with Dr. Pam Dennis and Ohio State University, has recently begun using the GT1M ActiGraph to monitor the activity of two Black Rhinos as a part of the Epidemiology-Zoo Program. Dr. Dennis has expressed that the use of activity monitors for animals that are kept in zoos is a great way to objectively keep track of how the animal responds to its enclosure. Her future plan is to find a way to monitor other animals at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo including the African Elephants.
